JOE MONROE, AMFT, APCC

A bit about Joe…

I earned a Bachelor’s in Sociology from the University of California at Berkeley, and a Master’s in Counseling with a specialization in Marriage, Child, and Family Counseling from Sacramento State University. I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and a Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor. I work with adults, teens (11 and up), and families, with a specialization in adolescents and young adults. My therapeutic approach comes from a person-centered philosophy that is intertwined with cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution focused techniques. My belief is that the client is the expert in their lives and my role is that of a fellow traveler as we navigate the issues together as a team. Before becoming a therapist, I was an educator for 23 years teaching Language Arts, Latin and Shakespeare to middle school and high school students. When I am not in session, I am husband and father to two young boys. In my free time I enjoy golf and traveling with my family. I look forward to working with you, so please reach out and we can start your personal journey to improving your mental health.
